School Advisory Council
The St. Viator Parish School Advisory Council exists to support the mission of St. Viator Parish School by providing consultation, counsel, and encouragement to the Pastor and Principal. Its primary focus is the intellectual, spiritual, and emotional development of students in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
Purpose of the Advisory Council
The Advisory Council serves in a consultative role to:
Offer guidance, perspective, and professional expertise to support the school’s mission and long-term vitality
Assist the Principal and Pastor in strategic planning, program development, and school advancement initiatives
Provide insight on matters such as finance, facilities, technology, enrollment, and community engagement
Strengthen collaboration between the school, parish, and broader community
The Advisory Council does not function as a governing board. It does not vote on policy, set school regulations, or direct school operations. Final decision-making authority rests with the Pastor and Principal in accordance with Archdiocesan policies and Catholic school governance.
Meeting Structure and Agenda
The school administration prepares meeting agendas in consultation with the Pastor. Agendas are shared in advance with council members to ensure meaningful discussion and preparation. The Advisory Council meets to listen, advise, and support the school’s leadership in addressing current needs and future planning.
Ex-Officio Members

Dr. Katie Kiss, Principal
Mr. Paul Mertzman, Vice Principal
